Our Horses

Second Chances, New Stories

Copper

The Survivor

Copper is more than a horse — he’s a hero. Once a proud show jumper in England, his life took a dramatic turn during his transfer to Portugal. Due to a shipping company’s tragic mistake, Copper and several other horses were placed in a lower cargo hold with limited air supply. As oxygen levels dropped, Copper kicked through the container walls, managing to escape and save not only himself but two other horses. Sadly, not all of them made it. He arrived injured from the effort, with lasting damage to his hind legs that ended his jumping career.

But his bravery brought him here, to a new chapter of life — one where he leads quietly with wisdom and grace. Copper is a steady presence, deeply respected and endlessly loved by all who meet him. He’s our gentle leader, and everyone – horses and humans alike – respects him.

Muscovita

The Comeback Queen

Muscovita is a small horse with a huge personality. Once used as a children’s school pony, her spirit and strength didn’t quite match the role — and she was eventually left in a paddock, overlooked and underappreciated. But we saw her potential. Through careful retraining and trust-building, Muscovita rediscovered her confidence and purpose.

Today, she’s one of our most skilled and motivated tour horses, especially fond of climbing dunes and exploring new trails. She’s always the first to greet us from the hilltop, ears forward, ready to ride. Muscovita reminds us daily that second chances create stars.

April

The Gentle Warrior

April had a brilliant career in polo before arriving here. She was strong, smart, and deeply dependable — the kind of horse any team would want. But an injury brought her playing days to a close, and with no further role in her former home, she came to us for a new beginning. On the dunes and beaches, her injury doesn't hold her back, and she thrives.

Friendly and endlessly patient, April is especially loved by first-time riders and children. She always comes to say hello, curious and calm. Her warmth and resilience make her a perfect ambassador for what it means to adapt with grace.

Tenrrinho

The New Path

Tenrrinho was born into a polo family — even his name was passed on by the man who first trained him with care and affection. Meant to be a competitive polo horse, he had a rough start during early training, which left him falling short of high-level play. That’s when he came to Lits Horses. Here, we gave him a fresh beginning. We gently retrained him, helped him rebuild his trust, and watched him grow into a thoughtful, intelligent partner.

Tenrrinho is now becoming one of our rising stars. His bright coat glows in the sunset, and he shines just as brightly in spirit. We’re also helping him recover from some warts, and with each step, his future looks more and more promising.

Canarinho

The Explorer

Canarinho, affectionately known as "Tweety," is a young, curious, and lively horse with a spark in his eyes. Always alert and eager, he loves discovering new paths and meeting new people. With the right rider, he connects quickly — ready to share in the adventure.

He’s still growing into his role, but already shows promise as a dynamic tour companion. Tweety brings lightness and joy to every outing, like a breeze across the dunes.

Foggy

The White Guardian

Foggy is more than just our snow-white stallion — he’s a living echo of local legend. Though he once played polo with grace and speed, he came to Lits Horses for a new chapter, a place to develop his confidence and explore new horizons. His temperament is surprisingly gentle for a stallion: calm, friendly, and remarkably easy to bond with. But what truly makes Foggy special is the story behind his name. Inspired by the legend of The Guardian Horse of the Sea Cliffs, Foggy carries the spirit of that mythical protector — a white horse said to appear in the morning mist and golden dusk above Meco,  guiding lost souls away from danger. Villagers once told of a mysterious steed who saved a young girl from falling off the cliffs, vanishing just as quickly as he arrived.

Today, when Foggy trots silently along the dunes, mane glowing in the fading light, we like to imagine that he is the guardian — returned not from myth, but from memory. His presence brings a quiet kind of magic to every ride, and a reminder that legends are sometimes very real.

Perla

The Golden Barbie

Perla is elegance in motion — a Quarter Horse with a gleaming palomino-chestnut coat and a sparkle in her eye. Lovingly loaned to us by one of our longtime partners, she made her journey from Spain to share her golden light with the dunes of Meco. But around the farm, she quickly earned a different nickname: The Golden Barbie — for her beauty, charm, and confident walk that turns heads wherever she goes. Beyond the glamour, Perla is a steady, caring, and dependable trail partner.

She brings calm energy to every tour, and is equally happy leading the group or riding quietly alongside a beginner. She’s here not just to be admired, but to remind us that strength and kindness can go hand in hand — and that even the most polished stars can have the softest hearts.

Colacao

The Golden Spirit

Colacao is a golden-coated Quarter Horse with a warm soul and adventurous heart. Brought to us from Spain by a trusted partner — the same who shared Perla with us — Colacao was chosen for his energy, character, and potential to thrive among the cliffs and pine trails of Lits Horses. While Perla brings elegance, Colacao brings fire. Curious, attentive, and always eager to move forward, he shines brightest when exploring new paths or galloping over soft sands.

His golden coat catches the light like flame, and his spirit adds a joyful rhythm to our herd. Still adapting to his new home, Colacao is already proving he’s not just here to follow — he’s here to lead, in his own glowing way.
